Brushing and flossing are vital to good dental health, but did you know that they don’t remove tartar from your teeth? Tartar is harder than bone and can only be removed by a hygienist using special tools. To prevent tartar buildup that can cause cavities we recommend a preventative dentistry appointment at least once a year.

Oral Hygiene
Your hygienist will begin your appointment by cleaning your teeth. This includes removing tartar and plaque and polishing your teeth to remove stains. We may recommend fluoride treatment to make your teeth resistant to decay.
Dental Exam
After your cleaning we’ll examine your teeth, gums, and mouth. We’re looking for signs of decay, gum infections or disease, and injury. The examination also includes a screen for oral cancer, and we may take X-rays of your jaws and teeth to identify any issues.
