Although most people think of teeth when they think of the dentist, your gums are equally important to your dental health. Your gums protect your teeth and supporting tissues from infection and injury, so it’s important to keep them healthy. Here are a few of the treatments we offer to keep your gums healthy.

Frenectomy
The connective tissue inside your mouth, such as the little piece of skin that connects your upper lip to your upper gum, can sometimes be too tight and can cause discomfort. This is more common in babies and young children. To resolve this, we surgically repair the tissue so it isn’t so tight.
Scaling and Root Planing
Tartar buildup and imperfections on the roots of your teeth can irritate your gums and lead to dangerous gum infections. We remove the tartar and smooth the surface of your roots to prevent this irritation and keep your gums healthy.
Extractions
If a tooth is badly infected or is so damaged that it can’t be restored with a crown or inlay, we will need to extract it to protect your gums and other teeth. Extractions are performed under local anesthetic (with optional sedation) and we’ll help you decide on a replacement for your lost tooth.
